Meet Maggie C.
Maggie came to our community in 2021 - she was 4 days sober. She recently celebrated 4 years of sobriety!
Get to know Maggie. What do you do for a living?
I work in health care and am fortunate enough to be able to work remote - starting each fall, I go just north of Baltimore on the Chesapeake Bay where I live and work with my fiancee, Brad!
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to travel. I am also getting back into running and have been helping support a new art center in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Something unique I have been getting into is getting scuba licensed because I would love to help out at the aquarium.
How did you get involved with Fully Vested Recovery Movement?
I walked into their class on January 7th, 2021 - it was a Friday night. I was looking for a community and alternatives for AA meetings. I found the class online and it was 3 miles from my home at the time. I was 4 days sober. I just celebrated 4 YEARS of sobriety on 1.3.2025.
How has being a member of FVRM impacted your life?
Since the day I walked into that workout - I felt valued. I felt seen. The community aspect of FVRM has forever changed my recovery. I knew I was safe and found people who supported me and my sobriety.
What is your favorite memory who have of being a part of FVRM?
My all-time fav memory is my 1st Memorial Day Murph event. I had partnered with another member, Becky. On the last mile run - my son, Andrew, ran with me. Andrew ended up joining me for FVRM events! I remember a not-so-pleasant memory of doing a partner workout with another member, Kai. We did burpees and some other things and I was the only one working out for like 10 minutes after everyone was done. The cool thing about this experience is that EVERYONE was cheering me on. And I finished and felt incredibly accomplished.
Any suggestions or advice you would give to anyone hesitant on coming to a FVRM event?
Everything we do at the workouts is modifiable - anyone can do them. The workouts will definitely challenge you - but there is no competition. Everyone is genuinely there to support one another.
